What Clients Have Said

I brought in an old Seiko that had belonged to my father. It hadn't been serviced in probably fifteen years. The intake assessment was thorough — they photographed everything before touching it and walked me through what they observed. When they called to discuss replacing the mainspring, they waited for my agreement rather than just doing it. The watch came back keeping time within a few seconds a day. I hadn't expected that level of attention.

I had a vintage Omega with a bracelet that was showing its age. My concern was that aggressive polishing would take away the character. Pelangi Tempa were the first workshop I spoke to who actually understood the distinction between conservation and refinishing without me having to explain it at length. The bracelet came back looking maintained rather than showroom-new. That was exactly what I wanted. Wait time was a few weeks, which is fair for this kind of work.

The Premium Restoration Programme took about thirteen weeks for my piece — longer than I initially hoped, but they were upfront about the timeline from the start, and the photographic record they sent at various stages helped a great deal. The written condition report at the end was detailed enough to be a meaningful document for the collection. I've already recommended this workshop to two friends.

I wasn't sure whether to service my watch or sell it — the answer came after talking to Ahmad Rashid, who was honest that the calibre was in reasonable condition and that a service was probably all it needed rather than a full overhaul. That kind of straightforward advice is not easy to find.

Solid work, honest assessment. The workshop is not flashy — it is a proper working bench operation. Communication was clear throughout. The movement was noticeably more consistent after the service. I noticed the regulation had settled within about two weeks of daily wear. One suggestion: it would be helpful to have slightly clearer written timelines at intake, though when I asked directly they gave me a reasonable estimate.

My grandfather's watch had been sitting in a drawer for close to twenty years. It hadn't run in at least the last five. I wasn't even sure it could be brought back into use. The team at Pelangi Tempa treated it as they would any serious restoration project — which is exactly what it needed. They sourced a replacement click spring that was correct for the reference and kept me informed at each stage. It runs now. That matters.

Three Case Studies

The Situation

Vintage Longines, stored for twelve years

The owner had inherited the piece but had no service history. The movement ran intermittently; the case showed surface oxidation on the lugs and bracelet. The owner's priority was maintaining as much of the original surface as possible.

What We Did

Full movement service including mainspring replacement. Conservation-only treatment agreed for case — oxidation addressed, no refinishing on lugs or bracelet. Gasket renewed, basic water resistance check completed.

The Outcome

Movement regulated to within four seconds per day. Case retained its original patina. Owner described the result as "exactly what I hoped — it looks its age without looking neglected." Timeline: six weeks.

"They understood immediately that I didn't want it polished back to new. That was the main thing."

— Owner, Ampang, KL

The Situation

Daily-worn dress watch, inconsistent timekeeping

A Swiss-made dress watch worn daily for nine years without service. The owner noticed it gaining around thirty seconds a day — more than twice what was normal for this calibre. The case and bracelet were in reasonable condition.

What We Did

Full mechanical service — disassembly, staged ultrasonic cleaning, inspection under magnification, fresh lubrication, reassembly. Regulation conducted across six positions over four days. Pallet stones showed minor wear and were renewed.

The Outcome

Regulated to within two seconds per day in the owner's typical wearing position. The owner reported no further drift after six weeks of wear. Timeline: three and a half weeks from intake to collection.

"I didn't realise how different it would feel on the wrist — just knowing it's running correctly changes how you wear it."

— Owner, Petaling Jaya

The Situation

Recently purchased vintage reference, unknown service history

Acquired through a private sale; the seller had no service documentation. The movement appeared to run, but the owner wanted a full assessment before adding the piece to their active collection.

What We Did

Premium Restoration Programme. Full movement service, case and bracelet restoration with conservation priority, gasket renewal and pressure test, correct period crown sourced and fitted, photographic record at each stage.

The Outcome

Written condition report delivered on collection. Movement regulated to within three seconds per day. Case and bracelet surfaces appropriate to a piece of this age, with no over-finishing. Owner described the report as "the best documentation this watch has probably ever had." Timeline: fourteen weeks.

"The photographic record alone made the programme worth it. I know exactly what the watch looked like before and after every stage."

— Owner, Bangsar, KL
