Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 14 April 2025
These Terms and Conditions govern the basis on which Pelangi Tempa accepts watches for assessment, service, and restoration. By submitting a watch to our workshop, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding with an enquiry or intake.
1. About Pelangi Tempa
Pelangi Tempa is a watch service and restoration workshop registered and operating in Malaysia, with premises at 22 Jalan Sultan, 50000 Kuala Lumpur. Our work encompasses mechanical watch servicing, case restoration, and comprehensive restoration programmes as described on our website.
2. Service Enquiries and Intake
Submission of an online enquiry form does not constitute a binding service agreement. Following receipt of an enquiry, we will contact you to discuss your watch's requirements, provide an assessment, and confirm the applicable service pathway and associated costs. A formal service agreement is entered into only when both parties have agreed in writing to the scope of work, timeline, and cost.
We reserve the right to decline any intake where, upon initial assessment, we determine that the scope of work falls outside our workshop's current capacity or technical capability.
3. Condition Assessment and Scope of Work
The condition assessment provided at intake reflects our observations at that time. During disassembly, additional wear, damage, or required components may become apparent that could not be identified from external inspection alone. In such cases, we will contact you to discuss any adjustments to scope or cost before proceeding. We will not undertake any non-reversible additional work without your written agreement.
4. Pricing and Payment
Prices shown on our website represent our standard service tariffs and are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Final pricing for any engagement is confirmed in writing at intake. Where additional work is identified during service, a revised cost will be submitted for your approval before work proceeds beyond the originally agreed scope.
Payment is required in full upon collection of the watch. We accept payment via bank transfer and major credit or debit cards. Watches will not be released until payment is received and confirmed.
5. Timelines
Service timelines are estimates provided in good faith at the time of intake. Timelines may be affected by parts availability, courier delays, or the discovery of additional work during disassembly. We will keep you informed of any significant changes to the expected completion date. We cannot be held responsible for delays arising from factors outside our reasonable control.
6. Customer Responsibilities
- You must have legal ownership of, or authorisation to submit, any watch brought to us for service.
- You should inform us of any known history of prior repairs, damage, or modifications before intake.
- Where you have specific preferences regarding restoration approach — particularly for vintage pieces — these should be communicated clearly at intake and confirmed in writing.
- You are responsible for ensuring that any watch submitted has not been reported as lost or stolen.
7. Storage of Watches Awaiting Collection
Completed watches will be held at our premises for a period of thirty (30) days following notification of completion. After this period, if collection has not been arranged and no communication has been received, we may apply a daily storage charge. After ninety (90) days without contact or collection, we reserve the right to apply further steps as permitted under applicable Malaysian law.
8. Limitation of Liability
Pelangi Tempa takes reasonable care in the handling and servicing of all watches entrusted to us. However, our liability for any loss, damage, or deterioration arising from our service is limited to the value of the repair work carried out, as confirmed at intake. We are not liable for any pre-existing conditions not disclosed or discoverable at intake, nor for the inherent risks associated with the servicing of aged or fragile components.
We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential loss, including sentimental value, loss of use, or diminution in market value following service.
9. Complaints and Disputes
If you have concerns about work carried out, please contact us in writing at [email protected] within fourteen (14) days of collection. We will acknowledge your complaint within five (5) working days and aim to resolve it within thirty (30) working days. Unresolved disputes will be subject to the laws of Malaysia and the jurisdiction of Malaysian courts.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on our website — including text, photography, and design elements — is the property of Pelangi Tempa or its content partners and may not be reproduced, copied, or redistributed without our prior written consent.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website, and the "Last Updated" date will reflect the most recent revision. Your continued engagement with our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.
